another contribution for the brian bendis board's weekly sketch jam thread. ([link]) this week's theme, original series star trek! fitting timing too, with the new movie out (which f'ing rocked, by the way!).

i was never a huge trekkie (or trekker, or whatever) growing up, but my dad was a huge fan of the original films and the next generation, so star trek was on in its various forms fairly often in my household. i always remember the episode where sulu went bonkers and started running around with a fencing sword. haha

real quick turnaround on this, since i've got to get back on my pages--probably about an hour for everything.

I saw the movie last night and it was AWESOME. I used to watch the old movies and my favorite was The Undiscovered Country. I am slightly trekkie. I used to watch all of the series that came out, but things got really interesting when Data programmed himself with an emotion chip. Then he starts scanning for life forms and sings about it. Ha ha!! :rofl:

Oh Sulu, was awesome when he took his sword out and stabbed some Romulans. When Kirk first asked him what knowledge he had in combat. Sulu's says "Fencing" I almost died from laughter. But he got out and actually pulled out his sword kicking ass the whole time. I had a new respect for him.

Your rendition of him is sleek and perfect. I look forward to more of your Star Trek art!

i'm partial to the voyage home, myself. not very sci-fi, per se, but it sure is funny. but yeah, the new movie was great. totally reinvigorated the franchise. can't wait for the sequel!

I remember that episode.
When George Takai come out the closet, this image came to mind.
I guess that should been my 1st clue.

maybe down the line i'll have to draw the new sulu fencing. :-)
