this is envy adams from the third book in the scott pilgrim series. she's scott's ex-girlfriend and lead singer of clash at demonhead.

trying to change things up a little--after drawing a bunch of angry lookin' dudes, and to explore something slightly in the manga/anime territory. plus, i love the scott pilgrim series, and had fun drawing characters from the book before. [link] & [link] (i really can't recommend this series enough)

i'm also trying to work up my coloring speed, since i'm coloring my long-in-development superhero book in addition to drawing and writing it.

I knew a girl who was like Envy, back in middle school. She even broke my heart.

That background and pose is really fun, though I have to admit that I'm a little confused about what it's trying to convey. The expression the woman is wearing really clashes with the rest of it. It seems kind of like she was in the process of striking a dramatic pose, but, while doing so, she spotted something particularly strange out the window.

That aside, I like it. It's a very bold style, and it works well with this sort of pose.

thanks. there's no real 'message' this piece is trying to convey, only a theme of fun. the character is sexy and spunky and it's just my riff on traditional anime/manga themes and color tones.

Oh, yeah. I figured it was just for fun. I more just meant that I wasn't quite sure what she could possibly be thinking while striking this particular pose. What she was trying to convey, not what you were.

But you did do a good job with what you were trying to do. The colors especially.
